The Rhode Island 250 Commission, Rhode Island Department of State, and the Rhode Island Historical Society present their fifth professional development session for Rhode Island educators highlighting Rhode Island’s pivotal role in the founding of the United States in preparation for the nation’s 2026 Semiquincentennial.
Session 5: “Unfinished Revolutions: The Fight for Voting Rights“
Thursday May 15th, 4:00-5:30pm at the RI State House Library
Join us to learn more about the continual struggle to expand voting rights throughout Rhode Island history, with RI Secretary of State Gregg Amore. Topics will include Thomas Wilson Dorr and other advocates in the push for broader suffrage. The workshop will emphasize the importance of voting as a major form of civic engagement.
Free lessons, resources, a letter for 1 1/2 hours of professional development points, and a $100 stipend will be provided for all educators attending.
