This talk will begin with examining the roots of the American military tradition and then proceed to cover the background to the American Revolution, the Battles of Lexington & Concord, the Continental Congresses, the Battle of Bunker Hill, the appointment of George Washington as the commander of the Continental Army, and the Siege of Boston.
It will then consider the challenges facing the Continental Army, the forerunner of the U.S. Army, and conclude with some relevant observations and questions facing us today.
