Join us for a two-day event celebrating Juneteenth in Newport!
The Juneteenth 2023 celebration will be held on June 18 & 19 in historic Washington Square, Newport. Juneteenth is the national celebration commemorating the end of slavery in the United States! This community event is open to all that includes historic militia demonstrations, speakers, indigenous cultural presentations, youth activities, music, and food trucks!
RISHM is partnering with the City of Newport RI, Newport Historical Society, Newport Middle Passage Project, and Sankofa to make it a memorable event.
