The RI Advisory Commission on Historical Cemeteries and the RI Historical Preservation & Heritage Commission present RI Historical Cemeteries Awareness and Preservation Weeks this April and May. Discover Rhode Island’s historic cemeteries and burial grounds through clean-ups, tours, open houses, gravestone conservation workshops, talks, and other programs. All events are free and open to the public.
Most of Trinity Churchyard’s 250 graves date to the 18th century, representing the fine work of stone carvers from the John Stevens Shop (still in operation today) and John Bull. Over Three Hundred Years of Worship! Trinity Church tells the history of pre-Revolutionary America and showcases the deep roots that Rhode Island has in the formation of our nation.
If you miss the cemetery tour, you can visit the church 10am-4pm Saturdays.
Tour limit: 8. Tour repeats Saturdays in April – May.
