Rhode Island’s Revolutionary Spirit: From the Burning of the Gaspee to the Battle of Rhode Island

Join the Rhode Island 250 Commission and the Rhode Island Historical Society for a professional development series designed for educators, running from January to June 2025. This series will explore Rhode Island’s significant role in America’s founding, with each monthly session focusing on key moments in the state’s history.

February’s session, titled “Rhode Island’s Revolutionary Spirit: From the Burning of the Gaspee to the Battle of Rhode Island,” will delve into the state’s contributions to the American Revolution and the lasting Franco-American alliance. This event will take place on February 27th from 4:00 – 5:30 pm at the Richard I. Burnham Resource Center at the Newport Historical Society.

Guest speakers include Michelle Walker, John McNiff, Lorén Spears, and other experts.
